Is Cremation the best option for me and my loved ones?

Updated: Sep 9, 2022

Each and every one of us has our own beliefs. These are based on our experience and the culture that we grew up with.

For us Filipinos, deathcare is still somehow an avoided topic to discuss - who wants to talk about preparing for your death, anyway?

Despite it being a sensitive topic, it is better to be more informed of what options you have and can prepare while you are still alive and kicking. One major thing to decide on is the manner of the funeral.

We Filipinos are very religious and traditional. Funerals are a time of gathering loved ones to remember and mourn the family’s dearly departed. However, ever since the pandemic has affected many lives, it became a wake-up call to make funeral pre-plans to make it easier for our loved ones when we depart.

If you or your loved one passed away due to COVID-19 (or other autoimmune diseases), cremation is the way to go since it decreases the risk of infecting others. But many Filipino families have realized the many other benefits of cremation, and why you should too!

My family is very religious - how do I explain to them I prefer cremation, and convince them to have the same?

Cremation may sound like an unconventional type of funeral, but it has long been practiced here in the Philippines. For your loved ones and relatives who are concerned about the religious implications of cremation, the Vatican has long lifted the ban on cremation since 1963. Now, you can even have an urn blessed by your parish minister once cremated.

During the onset of the pandemic, the Catholic Church has also supported the DOH’s guidelines for cremating bodies of those whose cause of death was COVID-19.

All funeral rites for a traditional burial are still the same for cremation. A 3 to 4-day wake can still be attended by friends and family, followed by a procession or travel to the crematorium, and then a viewing time before the body is placed inside the cremation chamber.

Cremation sounds simple, but is it affordable?

Yes! The costs you usually spend on a traditional burial is almost cut to half when you spend for cremation. You no longer have to spend on mortuary services, a coffin, a memorial plot, etc.

Your expenses would even be lessened if you plan for it in advance - these are called cremation pre-plans. You can buy a plan whether for yourself or for your loved one, and they would have a more easier and comfortable time dealing with your passing because everything is planned out.

Dearly Departed offers you and your family care beyond departure - easy payment terms, and state-of-the-art facilities so you can be confident that your dearly departed is in good hands.
